How It Started
We didn't start as gardening experts. Three years ago, a small group of us were struggling to grow anything on our Riga balconies. We tried standard container gardening advice from online guides. Most of it didn't work. The herbs froze. The tomatoes never ripened. The pots cracked during winter.
But here's what changed everything: we started experimenting with frost-resistant materials, vertical growing systems, and winterization techniques specifically designed for Baltic weather. The results were incredible. Within two seasons, we weren't just surviving — we're thriving with fresh herbs year-round and surprisingly productive tomato yields on small balcony spaces.
That's when anatomyofleaders SIA was born. We realized countless other apartment dwellers in Riga faced the same challenges. We've spent the last few years documenting what actually works in harsh Baltic conditions, testing different container types, and building guides that real people can follow. Today, we're sharing everything we've learned with others who want to grow food on their own terms.
